Guess who's going to England?!

National Gallery

In less then three weeks I'll be packing my bags for a long overdue visit to England. I can't wait to attend the wedding of the lovely Lady M and Mr A and to visit some old friends. I'm looking forward to experience the delights of Stevenage, Basingstoke, Croydon and of course LONDON!

I'm hoping to take lot's of awesome pictures for Instagram, get inspired creatively and maybe buy some bits and bobs for my craft cupboard. On top of that I'll have countless cups of tea and coffee and lovely chats. I have heard that Dame Judi Dench's portrait is finally out of storage and back on the walls of the National Portrait Gallery!

Any tips for sightseeing and must-do's, craft shops and cafès? Please let me know!

Chick-lit by Lucy Diamond

I have been reading my way through Lucy Diamond's books recently and I've got to tell you how much I love them!
My first one was "The Beach Café" about Evie, the youngest of three sisters who inherits her dear aunties beloved café in Cornwall.
Now, I have loved Cornwall ever since I read my first Rosamunde Pilcher book and enjoyed this book very much! In fact, I have read it several times since then and allowed myself to dream about running my very own café in Cornwall. If it weren't for the customers that is.
Luckily Lucy Diamond  returned to Evie in a short story called "Christmas at the Beach Café", which I will reread just before christmas to get me into the mood!

This summer I bought "Summer with my sister" without noticing it was by the same author only realising it when the writing sounded rather familiar.
Now I'm in the middle of "One night in Italy" and can't wait to finish it to get the next one.
Unfortunately the Kindle doesn't make nice cover pictures, so here's a rather grainy one of my laptop screen:

Go out and buy Lucy Diamond's fab books!

The muscle called creativity

Creativity is like a muscle, it needs exercising. If I haven't designed or sewn anything in a while it takes me longer to get the creative juices flowing again. Even tiny projects like this easy-peasy dishtowel tote takes a lot of thinking!

I like using dishtowels, especially Tchibo has lovely designs. They usually come in sets-of-threes and are not expensive. The quality is excellent and they come in handy for small projects.
So now I have to keep sewing to build up some creative muscle again. After all there's a wedding coming up, two babies slowly getting ready to emerge, countless birthdays and  less then four months till christmas.

Here's some more projects from earlier this year:
