Challenge Over

It's been over a month and I declare the challenge officially over. Overall I feel that I've triumphed but some days I might have been a bit lenient with myself.

It might have been a bit optimistic to fitness challenge myself during the cold and pollen season. Most days I only managed to go for a walk.

The positive outcome is a change of attitude. The challenge has become a habit. I might not be able to move my behind to the gym in time for class on a Sunday morning after a night out but I can move my behind around the block for a walk.

On top of that I started to actually use my fitness tracker as a tracker and not just as a wrist watch.
Three weeks ago I realized I had managed to nail my activity goal on 5 of 7 days, a week later 6 out of 7 and last week I made sure to hit 7 out of 7.

It got personal and I ended up walking up and down my apartment just to reach the goal or let my friend drop me off so that I could walk home. Dancing counts and swimming too!

I haven't lost any weight so far but it helped to incorparate more movement into my daily life and change my attitude.

The grand unveiling of Sissi 2

Recently I had to sack my first own sewing machine, Sissi.

If you are considering buying a machine yourself, pay as much as you can. My cheap Singer, which was all I could afford four years ago, didn't reach the high standards I was used to from my aunties machine and I missed its efficient quality and easy handling.

So after days of dithering and discussing it with my sewing aunt, who recommended the Swiss company "elna" and my sister, who owns one of their products, I decided to by the same model as my sister, the "elna 3210 Jeans".

So far I had only time to test the different stitches but I'm amazed by its quiet purring, music to my ears. I am soo looking forward to my next projects!

Challenge update

tiled floor at the local pool

Only yesterday morning I was preparing to tell you that I'm recovered and back on track and bam! (imagine comic style bubble) the stupid cold is back.

Even though I had a good and proper rest and stayed at home for a week, the nose is running again and the throat hurting.

At the end of last week I started exercising with some gentle walking and yoga practice and on Monday I went for a swim but now the challenge has ground to a halt once more.

I feel like a right prat for starting the challenge but am determined to keep going once I'm better, again! But then: it wouldn't be a challenge if it was easy!

But on a more positive note - I have new sewing projects:

I'll keep you posted! Stay well and take care!
